Mother's Day Present

I saw this pillow on One Pretty Thing and decided to make one for my mom for Mother's Day. I didn't follow her pattern word for word, just read through it and winged it. This is what it turned out to be. . .

Then I saw this wonky cross tutorial on Sew Mama Sew and decided to try it out for the back of the pillow.
I really liked how it turned out and can't wait to make one for myself!

Presents for me

For Christmas my sisters and I exchange small stocking stuffer type gifts. This year my sister made these awesome gifts. . .

These oven mitts and key chain are from The Idea Room.

The oven mitts are great and I may just replace lots of old worn out mitts with this pattern.

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all! I got a wonderful present from the kids this morning. Handprints, with our beach glass, rocks, shells and stick treasures in a frame made by daddy - how great! They did such a great job with the help of Daddy - I didn't know he could be so crafty! Thank You!!

Beach Glass Pictures

I have been wondering what I was going to do with all the teeny, tiny pieces of beach glass that we have been finding, other then sticking them in a container to look at. I saw this idea on One Pretty Thing. I didn't really read to see how she did it but I found some shadow box type frames at our local "dollar store", some card stock, the good old glue gun and beach glass.

I drew an outline of a heart very lightly with a pencil and then I started gluing the glass. I found it easier to put the glue on the glass then you don't have all those strings from the glue going across your paper.

Then I glued the paper to the backing of the frame. . .

I really like how these turned out. I made one for my mom for Mother's Day and one for Miss A's teacher who is retiring this year. Now I have to go find some more frames for me!

Thanks Miss J!

My 6 year old niece made this beautiful sachet bag for her favorite Aunt! ( OK - she made them for all her Aunts and her Nana too)

Look at the awesome sewing job did -

Way to go J!

She also painted this pretty picture on a bar of soap (it is one of those that the image shouldn't wash off - we will see). Thank you so much!
