A few more recipes. . .

A few more recipes from blogland that I have whipped up. . .

Chicken, Ranch, Rice Soup - I know everyone has a recipe for chicken soup. This one has unique "something" once the powered ranch is added.

Smore Stuffed Brownie - OK, ,these are good but mine looked nothing like the picture. I don't know if my marshmallows weren't so fresh:)

Layered Mexican Chicken Bake - The kids loved this.

Chicken Tostada Upside Down Bake - The flavors were good in this one. We just didn't care for the cresant roll on top, mine got soggy. My 6 year old thought corn bread on top might be yummy, I second that!

Chicken Bruschetta Pasta Recipe ( TGI Friday knockoff) I needed a recipe to use up some of my tomatoes from the garden. I love the TGI friday version of this and this was just as good in my book.

Double dose of festivals . . .

This weekend we are lucky to live on Lake Erie. Thursday night 6 beautiful tall ships sailed into the bay. The rest of the weekend they will be docked at Dobbins Landing for the Tall Ships Festival.

Tonight we get to listen to the sound of the Erie Philharmonic, watch the Brig Niagara in some friendly cannon fire, eat great food, and watch fireworks at the Erie Heritage Festival.

Finally!

I finally got around to quilting and binding this quilt.

It was started about a year ago with a bag of scraps that I bought to practice sewing. I started with wonky log cabins and then added some larger rectangles in between. Overall, I like the way it turned out. I can now move on and finish up another one.

Mother's Day Present

I saw this pillow on One Pretty Thing and decided to make one for my mom for Mother's Day. I didn't follow her pattern word for word, just read through it and winged it. This is what it turned out to be. . .

Then I saw this wonky cross tutorial on Sew Mama Sew and decided to try it out for the back of the pillow.
I really liked how it turned out and can't wait to make one for myself!

Ready to be quilted. . .

After starting this wonky log cabin several months ago. . . I can now say that I have the front put together. . .

And the back and it is ready to be pinned together. It may just have to wait a few more months to be quilted.

A few recipes from blogland. . .

I love to cook and try new recipes and we rarely eat the same thing twice around here. So I thought I would try a few from the blogs I frequent.

A Year of Slow Cooking had a few I tried out Orange Chicken, which was good but I think I will cut back on the orange juice next time. She also has a recipe forSalsa Chicken and Black Bean Soup, we all enjoyed this. I just wasn't sure why she put mushrooms in, I put them in but probably won't next time. Sweet Mustard Roast, I made this with a beef roast. The flavor was alright but I just don't care for roast, hubby enjoyed it. Sweet and Sour Tofu, I did not make this in the crockpot,I didn't really see the need to. We all enjoyed this too.

I also made Skillet Lasagna from Sister's Stuff. It was yummy and the kids loved it. The same night I decided to try and make bread, remember I am not much of a baker. Gourmet Mom-on-the-Go had a No Fail Quick French Bread. I don't know if I would call it french bread but it was yummy home made bread.

I have a list of other recipes I would like to try out before baby arrives and I don't have as much time.

Baby's Quilt. . . Done

After seeing this tutorial for a rag quilt on Creations by Kara we decided to try it out for the baby's car seat quilt. I had just enough of this snowflake flannel and a solid light blue flannel to make it big enough to snuggle in the car seat.

I think the snowflake fabric is neutral enough and then if we have a girl we will whip up a more girly version.

Stained Glass Snowflakes

These snowflakes look great in our window when the sun is out!

I cut a snowflake out of black construction paper laid it on contact paper and had the kids rip tissue paper and stick it on.
This is the back. . .
and the beautiful fronts!

Marshmallow snowmen.

We needed something to keep us busy yesterday so I thought we would make marshmallow snowmen. We used a cookie sheet and I used gel icing to make an outline of a snowmen. Then the kids used mini marshmallows, chocolate chips, candy corn and Lo Mein noodles ( pretzels sticks would work too, just didn't have any)

Isn't he cute :)

And can you believe the whole time they wanted to eat marshmallows and I made them wait to make sure we had enough. By the time we got to the end no one wanted to eat their snowman.

Mr. P's quilt done.

Here is Mr. P's quilt finished.

I like these small quilt sizes, makes me feel like I am doing something!

A quilt for Mr P

Car quilt take 2. What was I thinking that we could only make Miss A a car quilt.

Once again Miss A helped pick out fabric from the stash, measure and sew. Another great job!

The front. . .

The back. . .

Miss A's quilt finished. . .

Miss A's car quilt is finished. She is loving it and is very proud of herself!
Now Mr P. has requested one. Miss A has helped pick some fabric out of the "stash" and we have started cutting. We also have in the works a mini car seat quilt for the new baby. We are making one pink and one blue.

And here is a picture for those Pittsburgh people who didn't have school today because they had a couple of inches accumulation.

Come play with us!

Miss A's first quilt

Miss A got me lots of pretty fabric for Christmas. Since a snow day extended our holiday vacation we decided to turn it into a car size quilt ( just big enough to cover her legs in the cold weather). She picked the fabric, picked the design and helped me measure and sew.

Presents for me

For Christmas my sisters and I exchange small stocking stuffer type gifts. This year my sister made these awesome gifts. . .

These oven mitts and key chain are from The Idea Room.

The oven mitts are great and I may just replace lots of old worn out mitts with this pattern.

Happy New Year!

Happy 2010! We spent the day out in the snow. Well the kids and hubby did. I had a perfect warm seat in the Tahoe and I had the important job of manning the camera:)

We then continued working on Mr. P's "big boy" room so his current room can be turned back into the baby's room. I think we may just be ready to paint this weekend. And then more work for me moving his things and getting baby things out.
