Finally!

I finally got around to quilting and binding this quilt.

It was started about a year ago with a bag of scraps that I bought to practice sewing. I started with wonky log cabins and then added some larger rectangles in between. Overall, I like the way it turned out. I can now move on and finish up another one.

Mother's Day Present

I saw this pillow on One Pretty Thing and decided to make one for my mom for Mother's Day. I didn't follow her pattern word for word, just read through it and winged it. This is what it turned out to be. . .

Then I saw this wonky cross tutorial on Sew Mama Sew and decided to try it out for the back of the pillow.
I really liked how it turned out and can't wait to make one for myself!

Baby's Quilt. . . Done

After seeing this tutorial for a rag quilt on Creations by Kara we decided to try it out for the baby's car seat quilt. I had just enough of this snowflake flannel and a solid light blue flannel to make it big enough to snuggle in the car seat.

I think the snowflake fabric is neutral enough and then if we have a girl we will whip up a more girly version.

I like these small quilt sizes, makes me feel like I am doing something!

A quilt for Mr P

Car quilt take 2. What was I thinking that we could only make Miss A a car quilt.

Once again Miss A helped pick out fabric from the stash, measure and sew. Another great job!

Miss A's first quilt

Miss A got me lots of pretty fabric for Christmas. Since a snow day extended our holiday vacation we decided to turn it into a car size quilt ( just big enough to cover her legs in the cold weather). She picked the fabric, picked the design and helped me measure and sew.

Presents for me

For Christmas my sisters and I exchange small stocking stuffer type gifts. This year my sister made these awesome gifts. . .

These oven mitts and key chain are from The Idea Room.

The oven mitts are great and I may just replace lots of old worn out mitts with this pattern.

Last minute sewing. . .

I have been working on my Christmas Quilt and had a few star points that just weren't working so I made them into a little mat for a special someone for Christmas.

On the road again. . .

This past weekend we hit the road (another 6+ hour trip - ugh) to my sister-in-laws wedding. Both the kids were in the wedding. Everything turned out wonderful (after a little bribing!)

This week was my nephews birthday. I thought I would make up a pillowcase for the special birthday boy. He is having a "Thomas" birthday. I have had this fabric laying around.

This coming weekend is our last event of the year, Applefest. It is one of my favorites. I love the fall festivals. I am also so glad it is the end!

We've been busy. . .

The school year finally started for us today. I am happy to get back on a schedule. It has been a busy summer with our business and I am glad it is almost over and we can start relaxing! We just got back from a little trip across the state. We hit up Hershey, Sesame Place, Philly, and the Lancaster area. It was a nice trip - but long drive with the wee ones.

In other news. . . we are expecting baby # 3 in the beginning of March so it has been several months of tired and not feeling great. But I am now getting some energy back and hope to start some more projects.

I made this pillowcase for a friend who loves to keep us entertained with all his Sesame Street stuff animals - I hope he liked it!

Tissue Box Cover

I saw a tutorial for this reversible tissue box cover over at Pink Penguin. I thought I would make one real quick to add to my mom's birthday presents.

It did go together really quick and I just used fabric that I had on hand.

In Progress

I have been wanting to make a birthday banner as seen here, here, and here.
This is what I started last night. . .

I didn't follow any of the tutorials. I just cut out the letters out of some scraps I had and sewed them on with a decorative stitch, added some ribbon around the edges. Now it sits until I figure out what else I want to do. I just wanted to make sure I had the banner done for the next birthday in our house. I will probably make another one when I have more time to think about it and more supplies on hand.

I've been trying. . .

I have been trying to sew, craft, create, but it just isn't working. We had Memorial Day weekend with beautiful weather so we did yard work, went to several parties and hosted a party . Then we had a weekend of company with a family get together. Followed the next day by more company.

Yesterday Miss A went to her Nana's and Grandpa's for the first official sleepover by herself. 100 phone calls later she is surviving and she wants to make sure I am not coming before they play a game, have a banana split and learn to knit. So, Mr P and I are heading out to pick her up and stay a few days.

We also own a summer business and that is in full swing. . .more on that another post.

So. . .this is what I have been trying to work on. . .

this is my larger coin quilt, I could be done but I ran out of white for the back and just haven't made it back to the fabric store. . .

this is a wonky log cabin that I started as a TV snuggle blanket for Miss A, I am also waiting on some white to finish it up.
I started this disappearing nine patch awhile ago and I have a ton of squares done just not sure where I want to go from here. . .
I guess I have been creating just not finishing anything!

A Bag for Bags. . .

I felt like I had bags everywhere - so in keeping with the reuse theory I made a bag to hold all the bags.
I didn't have a pattern, just started sewing and this is where it ended! Now I can use my market totes because I know I have plenty of bags!

Finished Coin Quilt

I finished my coin quilt this morning. I really didn't have any plans for it but I got an email yesterday that one of my good friends had her baby. 2 weeks early and 10lbs 4 oz - wow - and congrats to her :) I hope to stop in and see them this weekend.

Working on this. . .

I have been working on this coin quilt. This one is a baby size but I have enough coins to make a lap size (which was my original intent!), just haven't got around to doing it yet. I thought I would start out with the smaller/easier one! I haven't been in my sewing room this week. We have been enjoying the nice weather. Last night we had the opportunity to take the little ones to a fish hatchery. They got to use big nets (with the help of daddy) to get the fish out and put them in traveling tanks. Then we went to local streams and released them. They had so much fun. I wish I would have had my camera the looks on there faces. . . especially when the fish were splashing their faces.

Beach Bag Size Tote

I LOVE this tote. I love the size, the "fabric" (towels from Target) and everything about it and can't wait to start using it. I got the general idea from Film In The Fridge.

I added an extra pocket and put some interfacing in it too. Now if we could just have some beach weather around here!

Magazine Bag

Last year, at Walmart, I found placemats that I decided I wanted to turn into a bag. I finally decided it was time and made a little tote for my reading material to take in the car or outside while the kids are playing. I let Miss A pick out the ribbon from my stash, what was I thinking I knew she would pick out the pink one :) I think it will be replaced when I find something I like a little better.
Tonight I started a fabric tote bag and layered/pinned a qulit for quilting.

Easter Decorations

I finally decided it was time to get out my Easter decorations and I found this carrot I made last year. It was one of my first sewing adventures. I followed this pattern.

Birthday wishes. . .

Happy Birthday to Hobby Mommy!

I filled up a basket full of cherry things for her. Black cherry tea, paper with cherries on it, cards that I stamped cherries on. It was fun putting it all together.

Have a great birthday Hobby Mommy!
