Snowman Cards

You know that packaging foam you get ( not the peanut kind, more of the block) that makes a mess with all those little ball-e things. We decided to take advantage of all those ball-e things.



We broke the blocks into more balls. . .

Then we made the outline of a snowman with glue. . .

Then we made it "snow" on our outline. . .

We let our snowmen dry. . .

Then we drew faces on them and and mailed them off to family and friends.

Before They Melt Away

Check out these cute snowmen before they melt away. . .









Miss A and I made them today and they melted away in our bellies! They are just 3 big marshmallows on a stick covered in white chocolate. We used M & M's for the buttons and mini chocolate chips for the faces. We found the "recipe" here and they look much neater then ours, but I am sure they all tasted the same.

The Year of the Ox

Happy Chinese New Year! Every year we host a Chinese New Year dinner. I spend the day before in the kitchen rolling egg rolls and these tiny little cabbages that go into soup. They consist of blanched cabbage with a ground pork mix in the middle tied up with a blanched green onion. Such simple ingredients . . . so time consuming. . . such great flavors and presentation.

Drawstring Pouch

I made several drawstring pouches to hold the beach glass gifts I made for Christmas. My picture isn't that great. The quick and easy pattern can be found here. Has anyone made a bigger version of this and have the dimensions?

Ooblek

As we tried to stay warm this weekend we needed some inside entertainment. We made oobleck. It is a 2:1 ratio. 2 parts of cornstarch and one part water, you could add food coloring, but with my little peoples hands in it so much their hands started changing colors! So next time we will stick with white. We all had a blast playing with it!

Happy Birthday to me!

Here are some fabrics Miss A ( who is 4) picked out for me. I also got an awesome pair of pink flip flop slippers :)



Hubby cooked a delicious dinner of tuna steaks. A good friend dropped a present off , which was a wonderful surprise. And many birthday cards and calls. A great day overall - except for the bone chilling temperatures we are having. . . 6 degrees. . . brrrrrrr. . .

Storage Boxes

I made some storage boxes following Crazy Mom Quilts tutorial. I filled several with goodies and gave them to my niece and nephew for Christmas. These are the ones I kept for myself. The green ones are made with heavier decorator fabric and the blue ones are from an old skirt that I added interfacing to. They are so easy to make and I can see more in my future!



As you can see, they got filled up quickly!
